Swissair!

Original character from elementary school days. I always wanted to draw a comic concerning her trying to fit in at an airport, but I never got around to it. Hmmmm, maybe I will. :D

TO THE FUNGEON

Long time, no write. Mostly because I haven't been drawing. Mostly been feeling bummed about my art and how I can't seem to make anything that's fucking good anymore.

A sketchy thing I made before I lineart it. It's Lysander and Jasper from "Shadow of Israphel" by the Yogscast. I like the way Jasper came out but Lysander needs to look more Lysanderish. However that looks. I DON'T KNOW.

I actually like this drawing for some reason (though that will probably change once I colour it), but ummm...yeah. Jasper, you're a fag!

Let Us Dance!

Art trade with someone on DeviantArt of her psycho character. :p

I wonder if I'll ever draw anything I actually like again...

EDIT: because I hated those eyes and I fucked up the sword, mang.

Into the Cosmos

Wanted to save this before I undoubtedly ruin it when I try to color it. And ARRRRGH I can't get her helmet NOT to look lopsided, lol.

Shit I Have Been Working on

I don't know how it's possible to get worse at drawing, but congratulations! I have done it!

Most of the other stuff I have been working on is stuff on my Ask-LarryKoopa account. But I'm taking a hiatus from that to try and better myself with my art.

Just for fun pointless anime screenshot.

I give up on this damn thing. I just don't like it at all.

Kings and Queens

I am so disappointed with my art. I feel like I can't improve at all or take it in a direction that I'm fond of. Everything just looks so samey and wonky; I feel like I'll never get anywhere.

Anyway, here is yet another new character. He doesn't have a name yet, but his tentative one is either Makar or Octavian. He is a Hell demon of very high ranking, a warlord, and he enjoys wearing female undergarments though he despises humans (particularly those who are women). He has a full demonic form which is a little bit more frightening-looking.

He has a holier-than-thou personality and enjoys heckling his ever obsequious  butler, who I will be drawing next. :3 YAY!

Homage

Good God almighty I had way too much fun with this one.

MAH TEEF ;___;

Ugh, my mouth...

Okay, for August 2nd, we have a shiny red Gyarados. Haven't decided on a name for him, really, but he kind of looks like a Shinji. Shinji, of course, is captain of the swim team and one of the top competitors for the school. He has a cocky and full-of-himself demeanor which he uses as mind play during competitions.

Day Three

I had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much fun with this, omg.

August 1st's Pokemon is a Mewtwo named Hokusai. Hokusai is a strict, no-nonsense English professor and chairman at the university. He can often be found cracking wooden dowels over goofing students' heads. He takes his job very seriously and has a cold, austere demeanor. Don't be surprised to find yourself in detention.

I don't know if I'll have one for tomorrow since I have to get my wisdom teeth removed. I don't know when I'll be back with more of these; hopefully after this whole surgery thing passes by. Hopefully I won't feel too bad so I can draw again soon!

Abra!

July 31st's Pokemon was an Abra. I imagine his name to be Hocus. Like many Abras, he enjoys sleeping profusely, so being interrupted to go to mundane things like class he finds exceptionally hard. Luckily he can read minds so there's some hope for him on tests and homework. Hmmm, would that be considered cheating? :D

Argh.

Prepare for ugly!

Okay, I'm going to be doing this thing where I try and practice getting a style; lineart; and just general improvement by updating every day (hopefully; within reason) with a Pokemon gijinka college/high school-themed drawing. Sooooo, day one is Arcanine!

This Arcanine's known as "Windie" and he's one of the top runners for the school's track team. He can usually be found on the track in the morning jogging before school, and during the afternoons at practice.  He doesn't like people touching his luxurious tail.

Okay, I spent most of the day struggling with this guy's GODDAMN HAIR and his body. So this is super lazy as a day one. Hopefully tomorrow's will look much better. >_< I'll probably do Zubat or something.

Kokomo

Was feeling blue the other day so I decided to draw Marmaduke and Svetlana together being friends. I also tried out a new lineart technique that I'm going to see the results of when I try to color this. The pen tool lineart was cool and everything, but I found it janky to use and really annoying when trying to flood fill stuff. So, we'll see with this! Hopefully the lines aren't too bold.

Also expect some more painting practice from me. I really want to try and learn how to digitally paint. I might do it as an art challenge or something.

DREI

These pictures are horrible, lol.

This one I drew yesterday and today while I had no computer (it was done on paper). The prompt was "Secretive yeti boy who wears leather pants and hates Gum". Well, crap! I forgot to make him secretive. You see, originally I was going to make him shy and sad-looking, but that grin, man, it won me over. So have a non-secretive yeti-boy. Though he looks more like a goat. I didn't know what to do for this one.

Don't know when my next monster sketch will be since I'm doing a buncha requests. But hey, more "serious" art will be back. Yay!

Zwei

DAY TWO: (This time using the Monster Generator from Generatorland.)

Analytical Futakuchi-onna girl who wears a maid outfit and wants Clutch.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

Was bored yesterday and needed something to draw. I saw the Tumblr fad of the Monster Generator sketches, but I didn't like that particular generator (hoo boy am I obsessed with it now) so I used Seventh Sanctum's crossbreed generator. This is what I got:

The romantic, seasoned male half-Nightmare archer. His non-human ancestry gives him a strangely attractive appearance.

I didn't know what a nightmare was so I just made something up. I also just drew for fun and didn't use any refs or models or anything as I am trying to remember how to just create characters. It's uh, really literal, but I had fun while drawing it. I'll be doing more of these so be on the watch out, lol. I'll probably take more time with them too, and practice getting smooth and workable lineart. I wonder how people do it fast yet utilitarian at the same time?

To Change the World

UNCENSORED VERSION: Clicky here!

What I'm currently working on. This has to be one of the better full-bodied pictures I've done with this new style (still having problems with the neck area, though). It's Damon after feeding and having shifted back into his humanoid form. When he shifts, his clothes don't go with him, so he's obviously nude. Plan to add some bits like his remains and shit, but other than that, soon I'll be ready to lineart him.

Also am having problems with getting him to look the same throughout every picture.

STOP! PUT YO' HANDS IN THE AIR

Having a bit of trouble getting this to FREAKING LOOK RIGHT. Might just erase everything from the head down and start all over again.

Anyway, this is Jules. Jules is a state policeman who finds Damon in an abandoned house he is sent to investigate. The two become roommates of sorts with Jules taking care of his little vampire buddy and Damon just shacking up with him. I doubt they're going to have any sort of a romantic relationship (I imagine Jules to be more asexual), but there's probably going to be some sort of "bromance"/male fanservice oh god i just walked into you showering-type comedy that'll happen. WHO KNOWS.

As for me, I'm going to try to fix this before I colour it. Argh.

Damon

Whenever I end up colouring something, it always looks like the most toony piece of shit.
I'll come back later and see whether or not I like this more. I had to repaint it like, two times. Don't know if I'm going to post it to DA.

Wish I could colour more realistically. Oh well. IT ARE A JOURNEY.

Edit 2:06 AM:

Updated version:

I tried to unsaturate it a bit but...I don't know. I'm done with this for now, lol.

Edit 10:14 PM:

Okay, this is the version I uploaded:

Still looks too damn toony but...whatever.  Maybe it's the lines?

Saturday, July 7, 2012

YAY!

Not bad for babby's first lineart, isn't it? It wasn't as bad (tedious) as I thought and only took a few hours. Now I can't wait to color this sucker! I haven't coloured something in such a long time. I hope I still remember how, haha.

Bite Me!

A vampire character that has been floating around in my head for a while. He is the personification of a greater false vampire bat. :D He doesn't have a name yet, but tentative ones are Damon or Will. I'm not sure whether or not to make him someone's familiar or have him travel about on his own volition. As a vampire bat, he has a voracious appetite, and especially prefers insects (grasshoppers and crickets) and other bats. And though he can see as well as any human, he prefers to listen with his large ears.

I might try to ink and color this. Oh God! I am so impatient when it comes to inking, but it will be a challenge. I really want to color something. This will also be my first time, so, welp, here it goes.

Kindred Spirit

Someone on DA requested that people draw his original character, a warrior named Kieno. He sounded interesting, and I had a picture of him in mind, so I decided to take a shot at him! I had fun drawing him, and did lots of new things. Like I've never had a character with facial hair before, or short spiky hair. Getting these to look even remotely right took a while. It was also my first time drawing armor and sword hilts and such.

I'm also experimenting with this semi-realistic style some more. I don't want all my characters to look the same or to get stuck not varying facial features. Still having trouble with full figures though. And don't even get me started on coloring.

Ugh.

This one is...meh. I've been having the hardest time with her damn hair, especially that side view. It looks like it makes no sense, haha. (And it probably doesn't.)

Here's the protagonist of the story, Svetlana. Lana is seventeen years old and comes from the rougher side of the tracks. Sent to live with her grandmother, she befriends the selkie, Marmaduke (below). Together they grow and learn what it means to face the world/mature. So basically it's going to be one of my tell-tale coming-of-age stories.

I'm not very creative when it comes to character design, so this was hard as balls. There's a few things about her I want to fix, but other than that, it's just concept art, so I'll probably do more sketches and shit before I get down to the main meat. None of them look alike... Argh.

For Whom the Man Drowns

A character I adopted from an egg on DeviantART--a selkie! I think I'm going to use him for a comic in which he becomes entangled with a young teenage girl who steals his pelt and he learns some damn humility.

This selkie doesn't have a name pronounceable in our tongues, so the girl gives him the nickname of Marmaduke (pending). He is a Californian harbor seal who is a complete narcissist only in love with himself. He enjoys drowning women and has a reputation in the area for doing so. He can often be found staring at himself in some reflective surface, which was the inspiration for this picture other than a character model. I imagine he's staring at himself in a mirror or glass.

I tried to practice making him look the same from all angles. The first picture was an experiment with drawing him on the computer from a concept sketch I did in my sketchbook, so it doesn't quite fit in with the others. Uhhh... Well, they all kind of don't look like they fit in with each other!

A Rose for a Rose 2

Whereas yesterday I had problems with getting Runako to look like a man, today I had problems with getting Rose to look like an eleven-year old girl. But I guess I got close enough. Need some constructive critique though because...I can't draw children and it's damn hard getting references of them and artistic lessons on them!

Put them together. :) Runako and Rose!

A Rose for a Rose

So proud of this piece. And just proud of myself in general. I just feel like I am improving so much; this doesn't even look like the shit I used to draw a few months ago when I got burnt out!

This is my character I haven't drawn since like, eighth grade, Runako, who is an assassin. He looks a little girly in this picture. :/ It looked MANLY but then when I added the hair, the MANliness disappeared. So fuck it.

I might try to ink it. I seem to just give up whenever it comes to inking something. It's so involved and I'm so impatient! Maybe if this was on paper...

Saria of the Leaves

I'm going to try and render this in coloured pencil.

Wish me luck oh god

BY JOVE.

I'm going to start doing these every day (or at least trying to). Drawing gesture and figure drawings on my tablet to practice getting used to drawing with it (I usually draw on paper, scan it in, and then color underneath the line art). It was surprisingly fun if not a bit weird (argh, such sketchy lines!), but I think if I keep it up, I will see improvement. This was a 60-minute drawing, timed, with a randomly generated reference. :D Anatomy looks wonky but... I'm working on it!

H&H Concept: The Demon (Portrait)

It's weird how much you lose the character of the sketch after you digitalize it and stuff. All I did was fiddle with the levels to get rid of the dark spots, and damn, it looks too sterile and clean.

This is a character concept sketch for a comic I plan to start this summer called "Heaven & Hell". This is one of the protagonists, a demon, who is to be paired up with an angel. He doesn't have a name yet. He's supposed to look older and more manly/rugged but... I don't think I'll ever lose this horrendous anime influence my art has. That or it'll just take a damn long time. /cry

He's a prince of hell and a warlord. He "wears" his horns in a characteristic Leia bun-style, and has a sentient snake/serpent that is his tail. He is hedonistic in nature and enjoys shacking up with just about every woman (except human women, which he finds gross!). He has wings that he is able to sprout and has the usual supernatural demon abilities. He has a sarcastic personality and is positively tortured whenever someone invokes the name of the Lord or Jesus (this includes other religious paraphernalia such as crosses, churches, rosaries, etc.).

Full body concept and the angel later! :>
