H&H Concept: The Demon (Portrait)

It's weird how much you lose the character of the sketch after you digitalize it and stuff. All I did was fiddle with the levels to get rid of the dark spots, and damn, it looks too sterile and clean.

This is a character concept sketch for a comic I plan to start this summer called "Heaven & Hell". This is one of the protagonists, a demon, who is to be paired up with an angel. He doesn't have a name yet. He's supposed to look older and more manly/rugged but... I don't think I'll ever lose this horrendous anime influence my art has. That or it'll just take a damn long time. /cry

He's a prince of hell and a warlord. He "wears" his horns in a characteristic Leia bun-style, and has a sentient snake/serpent that is his tail. He is hedonistic in nature and enjoys shacking up with just about every woman (except human women, which he finds gross!). He has wings that he is able to sprout and has the usual supernatural demon abilities. He has a sarcastic personality and is positively tortured whenever someone invokes the name of the Lord or Jesus (this includes other religious paraphernalia such as crosses, churches, rosaries, etc.).

babby's first speedpaint

I've always wanted to try speedpainting and over the past couple of days I just had this urge. After finally getting frustrated with myself, I tried. Here's after about an hour and forty five of just dicking around.

I don't know if I'll do anything more with her. I'm having a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to shade her/getting her shading to look right. :3

ARRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!

This picture was a literal nightmare from conception to execution. I dun goofed on just about everything and some stuff just looks seriously wonky (Dark Link's proportions and anatomy; THE HATS ...), but... I mean it was for practice so I guess it's alright. Kinda don't want to upload it to my main gallery though. :/

I think I'm not going to go much further with this. This is just way too frustrating and I've been having problems with this thing ever since day one. I just can't get anything to look right and my patience is beyond waning thin.

Don't know which direction I'm going to take Dark Link, either. As Link's shadow, he's usually portrayed as being grey or black with his characteristic red eyes. Some people also draw him as a recoloured Link only with black hair and clothes. I like to think of him, being Link's doppelgaenger, as his "evil twin" so to speak. He essentially is Link.

But it doesn't look visually interesting. I would love to remake this picture but make it more interesting to look at, with a more compelling narrative and dichotomy between the two. But I also never want to go look at this thing again. So, yeah... I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Maybe I'll try again when I'm not bored of this already.

Where the Wild Things Are

Damn, long time, no write (or draw). For the longest time I had an artist's block, just not knowing what the crap to draw. Now I'm bursting with ideas. Here's something that's been sitting with me for a while now; I've been  working on it on and off. Having problems with the anatomy (particularly Dark Link's). I think what I'm going to do is when I get this on the computer I'm going to move his body upwards a little bit, because where it stands now, he has like, no chest and I keep compensating it with his back but it doesn't look good or right. I ended up drawing him and regular Link too close together, methinks.

I've also had other ideas for drawings, lots of comic ideas and such, so...we'll see where we go with everything. Yay, I guess.
